Hey, guys my name is Kayla. Sorry I am a little late to the group. I am currently majoring in Biology, but my main career goal is to become a veterinarian. I really love and enjoy animals a lot. I have had a lot of animals throughout my life. Honestly through this pandemic my three dogs were the only ones keeping me sane during this crazy time in life. Anyways that is me now on to chemistry. This is actually my second semester taking General Chemistry II because I failed it the semester before the last semester. This is going to be sort of like a memory blog thinking back to the beginning of the semester thinking about how a felt, mainly because I procrastinated and started my journals today. At the start of the semester I was unsure how to feel since everything was online. I did not like not going to class because it had messed up my routine. I also did not enjoy taking six online classes that was definitely a mistake and I learned from it. I also learn better through an actual class and lecture. Taking Chemistry II again scared me because I really struggled the last time I had taken it and then finding out that I have to take it online was even worse because you basically have to learn it on your own and manage your time wisely. The beginning of the semester I felt was not to bad at all but that is pretty normal it changes once the class progresses. The one thing that I was most worried about was organic chemistry because I really struggled with it the very first time and I definitely struggled with it this time to, I can never really get the hang of organic chemistry I honestly think I need to maybe find a tutor to better understand it. I don’t know you guys feel about but I still think It is a tough subject. Other than Organic Chemistry I understood most of the other topics. I was still worried as the class continued for the exam, I have never been a good test taker. Even sometimes when I know the topics and concepts sometimes my mind just goes blank. Anyway that is it for my first blog I don’t really have anything else to say, but it was nice to meet you guys, and I hope you guys did well at the beginning and did not struggle to much.

Blog 2 and 3

Hi ya’ll, here’s an update on test two. This time I actually went over the videos and did every practice problem and every practice exam. I did all the homework, although I did have problems on a few questions. After completing the practice exam, I still felt confident like I was understanding the material for the most part. This time I was also more prepared and created a better note card. After taking the actual exam, I wasn’t sure how I felt about it and I wasn’t too confident. I thought I did okay on the short answer, but I found myself guessing on the multiple choice portion. Once I got the exam back, I did a little better than I did on the last one. The grade definitely put me in a bad mood because I was able to see right away what I had done wrong. I actually knew how to solve the problem. When it comes to tests, I have so much test anxiety and most of the time my mind goes blank. The second I got my exam back, I worked on the ungrading right away and it was easy. I was able to complete it without any help mainly because there’s no pressure or time limit. I think if I did not have a time limit and if I’m able to work on it without one, my test scores would improve.

Hello everyone, back for and update, this time for exam three. As usual, to prepare for my exam, I watched the videos, completed all practice exams, and all practice problems. Going into exam three, I felt more confident than any other test I have taken in the past. I still found myself guessing a little for the multiple choice question portion. For the short answer portion I also felt confident. When I received my exam, sure enough, my best work was on the short answer questions, with only a few points taken off. What I did poorly on, was the multiple choice questions. On the upside, it was my highest test score. When I did the ungrading, I did not find it to be challenging at all and it boosted my grade up. On this exam, I also created a good note card I was satisfied with my test score and how well I prepared for it, especially because I did well on the short answer portion which is weighted the most. I observed that the more I study in certain ways, the better I do and the more proud of myself I am.

Hi, Everyone. Update we are Finally done. I took my final on Wednesday. To prepare for my exam I went over and watched many videos. I went over and reviewed all exams as well as the ungrading that was passed back for each exam. I also reviewed all practice exams and any worksheets that we were given in class. The last thing I went over was the final exam study guide.

Going into the final I wasn’t sure how confident I was because there was a lot to study and many different problems to know how to solve. I created a good note card with everything I had on all my note cards from previous exams and more information. One thing that worried me for the final is the amount of time we had to complete the final I definitely had to rush or felt rushed because I didn’t want to take too much time on one question.

During the exam I still had a pretty good amount of trouble getting spot on answers most of my numbers were close but not exact so I am not sure if I got those questions correct. I am worried that i did not do well on the exam and that I used the wrong formulas or I miscalculated. I felt rushed and its possible i didn’t do well on the exam. I do have a filling that I didn’t do well and that I am going to have to retake the class.

Overall from the beginning of the semester to the end I did not improve much, but I do feel like I learned a lot. I just need more help on a few things in order for me to build on to similar and more complicated problems. For the next time i take this class when i retake I need to go back and review more of chemistry one and then build on from there. I do need a little more help on some material but not too much, I think I mix up formulas and which to use for each problem. I did really enjoy this class, but it still was difficult for me and I need to figure out better ways of learning so I can fully understand the material and think I am going to have to take a couple steps back first. Bye y’all I hope you guys had a good semester and I wish the best of luck to you all.

Hi, everyone. My name is Kayla Winters. This is my third semester here at CNM. My major is biology. A few things to get to know are, My career choice is to become a veterinarian. I really enjoy the outdoors and camping. My favorite thing to do is to play any type of sport.

Now back to Chemistry, going into General Chemistry two I felt very unprepared. I am not gonna lie General Chemistry one was difficult for me. I passed the class with a c. For my first chemistry two test I did not do very well, but i definitely thought I was going to do worse. To prepare for the exam I did all of the reviews and practice problems that were assigned to us in class. I felt like I understood it, but when it came to the actual exam I was lost and confused. My mind just went completely blank and I forgot the most crucial steps. On the bright side as you guys know we were able to do un-grading which really boosted my grade and almost put me to a seventy percent. Not only did it boost my grade but i also was able to go over the questions and make sure I could fully understand the formulas and steps needed for each problem.

Now I know that it is very important to go over the videos provided as well as the practice exams and problems provided. One thing that didn’t help for the exam is that I did not have a very good note-card and didn’t fill it out completely. I was not very prepared for my first exam, and I still have trouble with chemistry because I didn’t do well in general chemistry one, which was my fault because I made the horrible decision of taking my chemistry class online.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
